Israel 2014 budget deficit meets target despite Gaza war cost
Israel's budget deficit ran at 2.8 percent of gross domestc product last year, the Finance Ministry said on Tuesday, in line with initial projections despite the cost of the Gaza war.
The ministry had originally targeted a deficit of 3.0 percent of GDP, after posting a 2013 deficit of 3.15 percent of GDP. But a change in calculating GDP lowered the target to 2.8 percent.
It the event the deficit was 29.9 billion shekels ($7.6 billion) versus a 31.1 billion shekel projection.
