Head of Belgium Jewish community says call to close Jewish schools 'precautionary', not based on specific threat

Head of Belgium's Jewish community, Prof. Morris Sosnovsky, spoke with Ynet Friday about a number of precautionary steps taken by the community in Belgium and Holland after local police raided terror hotbeds in the country.

Regarding the decision to close Jewish schools in Amsterdam, Brussels and Antwerp, Sosnovsky said: "There is no direct threat… only prevention, there is no specific threat to the Jewish schools or the Jewish community, not at all. There is extra security for all schools and institutions."

He said that as of now there were no special directives for Shabbat:"We will see about the synagogue before we ask Jewish people who want to go to the synagogue not to go."
