Hagel disputes Iraq leader's weapons, training complaints

Defense Secretary Chuck Hagel took issue with the Iraqi prime minister's assertion that the US has been too slow to provide weapons and training for his country. He said Haider al-Abadi's remarks were not helpful or correct.

On Wednesday Al-Abadi praised the coalition's air campaign but said Iraq is "in this almost on our own."

Hagel told reporters that al-Abadi might want to be a little more mindful of the large coalition effort that has come to Iraq's aid. He said the US has provided at least 1,500 Hellfire missiles, 250 mine-resistant vehicles and thousands of small arms weapons and ammunition.
