Assad on alleged Israeli strike: Syria never had plans to attack Golan Heights
Syrian President Bashar al-Assad responded to the air strikes in Quneitra attributed to Israel and said: "Ever since the cease fire in 1974, an operation against Israel in the Golan Heights was never carried out. Israel is the one that has attacked Syria for two years with no reason."
In an interview with US magazine Foreign Affairs, Assad said: "Israel's claims that there were plans for operations against (Israel) from the Syrian Golan Heights are very far from reality – it is just an excuse to eliminate Hezbollah members."
Asked whether Hezbollah receives arm shipments from Iran by way of Syria Assad responded, "What does it matter? They (Israel) attack military posts."
