Jewish group urges steps in Europe to combat anti-Semitism

The president of the European Jewish Congress on Monday urged governments to quickly adopt measures to stop the rising hatred of Jews on the continent.

Moshe Kantor spoke to the Associated Press ahead of a two-day international meeting in Prague organized by his group that gathers speakers of parliaments, lawmakers, lawyers, experts and politicians to discuss the issue.

Kantor said changes in EU legislation are needed, such as the establishment of a ministry for security, a special envoy for anti-Semitism and legislation for promoting tolerance.
