2 US House Democrats to skip Netanyahu speech

Two prominent US House Democrats say they will skip Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu's speech to Congress next month, saying they disapprove of House Speaker John Boehner's decision to invite the Israeli leader without consulting the White House.

Rep. John Lewis, a hero of the civil rights movement, and Rep. G.K. Butterfield, chairman of the Congressional Black Caucus, say Thursday they will not attend Netanyahu's March 3 speech. Both men say their decisions were personal and not part of any organized boycott by the caucus or House Democrats.
