After US Vice President Joe Biden met with Zionist Camp leader Isaac Herzog on Saturday night at the sidelines of the Munich Security Conference, the Likud party was quick to criticize him, saying Herzog's "behavior constitutes an irresponsible crossing of red lines."
But while the Likud was criticizing Herzog for meeting with the American VP, who announced he would miss Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu's address to Congress because he will be traveling abroad, Likud Minister Yuval Steinitz was standing in waiting to shake the VP's hand at the Munich Conference.
While in Munich, Herzog met with both Biden and US Secretary of State John Kerry who, like President Barack Obama, decided not to meet with Netanyahu when the Israeli prime minister is in Washington to speak in front of Congress on the Iranian threat - a speech that was not coordinated with the White House. Both Obama and Kerry cited the proximity of the Israeli elections as the reason not to meet with Netanyahu, saying they did not want to appear to be meddling in Israeli politics.
