Tel Aviv named one of top 10 oceanfront cities

Israeli metropolis included on National Geographic list alongside San Diego, Brisbane and Marseilles and other 'waterfront urban meccas.'

Tel Aviv has been included on National Geographic magazine's recent list of Top 10 Oceanfront Cities, a selection of the "glittering seascapes which provide both the backdrop and the beat of these waterfront urban meccas."

According to the travel magazine, "There’s plenty of room for beach bathing in this modern Israeli city on the Mediterranean. The historic port of Jaffa has found new life in recent years with a vibrant gallery, café, and restaurant scene."

The world's other top oceanfront cities, according to National Geographic, are Tallinn, Estonia; St. John's, Canada; San Diego, California; Marseille, France; Perth and Brisbane, Australia; Durban, South Africa; Vladivostok, Russia; and Portland, Maine.

In the past few years, Tel Aviv and its beautiful beaches have been included on quite a few top 10 travel lists. In 2014, Twitter users from around the world labeled Tel Aviv in the top 10 hottest destinations to visit that year.

In 2013, National Geographic ranked the Israeli metropolis as the ninth best beach city in the world, referring to it as "Miami Beach on the Med." Earlier, an LGBT website listed Hilton Beach as one of the top 10 gay beaches in the world.
