Chicago Mayor Rahm Emanuel is hoping to avoid a runoff re-election bid as voters head to the polls.
Tuesday's contest decides whether the former White House chief of staff will get a second term right away or have to face a challenger in an April contest.
Emanuel is running against Cook County Commissioner Jesus Garcia, Alderman Bob Fioretti, businessman Willie Wilson and perennial candidate William Walls. He needs 50 percent plus 1 vote to avoid a runoff.
