Kahlon: Likud forgot its way, I represent national camp

'How did apartment prices rise 17 percent? How did the living costs become so high?,' Kulanu chairman asks during visit to Hadera market as part of campaign stop.

Kulanu party chairman Moshe Kahlon on Friday took his campaign to the market in Hadera, the city where he was born and raised, in order to persuade undecided voters to vote in his favor. "I am a man of the national-social camp," he said during the visit. The ex-Likud MK also blasted his former party, saying: "The Likud forgot its way."

Speaking 4 days ahead of the elections, Kahlon said: "We have witnessed in recent days and hours attacks from the left and the right – I want to unequivocally clarify – I am a man of the national-social camp."

Kahlon added that the elections were not about the right or the left-wing. "They are about people, about human beings, about a path, about putting a person in the front, so that he will get a chance to buy an apartment, a chance to get married, buy a house, find a normal place to work and live in dignity, and not have his salary run out after two weeks," he said.

"We want an answer from the government, how is it possible that the prices of apartments rose by 17 percent? How did the high costs of living climb to where they currently stand? How did we get to a situation in which not one minister or person in the government presents factual data…tell the truth – you have failed, vacate your position."

Kahlon said the country cannot afford to have another term of the current government. "The people of Israel cannot just wait for the next economical catastrophe to strike. If the prices rose by 17 percent over the past two years, they will rise by another 17 percent in two more years. We are in the midst of an economic catastrophe and it must be prevented. We are not becoming stressed and will not stray from our way."

Kahlon continued by saying: "The nation of Israel is waiting for answers and solutions. The people want a better future for their children, they want their parents to age in dignity and not live on pathetic and insulting pensions."

Referring to what he saw as the real reason young Israelis are leaving the country, the Kulanu chairman said: "Not a single person left the country because of the Iranian threat or the Islamic State. They are leaving the country because they feel they don't have a chance, because they have lost hope. We want to give them hope and bring it back."

Addressing comments made by Bayit Yehudi Chairman Naftali Bennett that he was veering leftward, Kahlon said: "I would like to inform you Mr. Bennett – I am a man of the national camp. Just because I'm not as odd as you and not a member of the Hilltop Youth, doesn't mean that I'm not a man of the national camp."

Kahlon added: "We will not stray from our social-economic path and will prove to you as well, Mr. Bennett – as Economy minister, for two years you sat and chattered and did not do a thing besides make false statements that are empty of content."
