Israeli election results dominated headlines around the world on Wednesday morning, after Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu led his Likud party to a surprise win.
Polls before Tuesday's election showed rival Zionist Union with a lead of four seats, and exit polls suggested that the parties were in a virtual tie. But when votes were counted throughout the night, Likud emerged with a substantial lead, ending up with 30 seats to the Zionist Union's 24. Many international media outlets emphasized the "comeback" of "Netanyahu the magician."
