Turkey detains Russian citizens trying to cross into Syria

Turkish officials say authorities have detained four Russian citizens who were trying to cross into Syria illegally.

The governor's office for Gaziantep province said Thursday the four were taken into custody in the province that borders Syria, but didn't say when they were detained. It said the detained Russians were trying to reach "conflict areas" in Syria and would be deported. On Wednesday, Turkey's military said nine British citizens were arrested in Hatay province as they tried to cross into war-torn Syria. The group of three men, two women and four children were the latest in a spate of cases of British citizens heading to Syria through Turkey.
