Poll: Almost half of Israeli Jews want a unity government

Almost half of Israelis believe a unity government whose senior partners are Likud and the Zionist Union will better serve Israel's interests, according the Israel Democracy Institute's (IDI) monthly poll released this week.

The IDI poll found that 49 percent of Jews and 42.4 percent of the general public preferred a unity government including the Zionist Union, compared to only 35.2 percent of Jews and 31.3 percent of the general public that favored a coalition of the right-wing and religious parties only.

The survey, conducted on March 29-30, 2015, included 600 respondents who constitute a representative sample of the adult population of Israel. The maximum measurement error for a sample of this size is ±4.1 percent.
