The blessing, known in Hebrew as birkat hakohanim, takes place twice a year on Passover and Sukkot.

Draped in prayer shawls, thousands of Jewish men descended from the Kohanim - the priests of the Temple - gathered at the Western Wall in Jerusalem on Monday morning to perform the priest's blessing, known in Hebrew as Birkat Hakohanim, for Passover.

The blessing takes place twice a year on Passover and Sukkot, in between the holy days at the start and the end of each festival, known as the intermediate days.
