A man in his 40s died Tuesday after falling off a 50 meter high cliff at the Wadi Og stream in the Judaean Desert. The tragic accident occurred during the Passover holiday break which sees increased travel all over Israel.
A volunteer rescue unit that was called to the site had to pronounce the man dead at the scene. A rescue helicopter had also been dispatched to the site of the incident.
An initial investigation found that the man fell from a walking path into the wadi.

Earlier on Tuesday, rescue units were also called in to save a diabetic woman at the Wadi Qelt, which is also located in the Judaean Desert. A helicopter was dispatched to the area in order to evacuate the woman who reportedly suffered from low sugar levels while hiking in the area.
Also at Wadi Qelt, a 51-year-old woman was rescued after breaking her leg. The woman was taken to the Hadassah Medical Center in Jerusalem by ambulance.
Rescue units were also put to work in the northern Golan Heights on Tuesday when a woman fell and injured her leg at the Zavitan Stream. The woman was carried from the site in a stretcher and taken to a local hospital.
Also in the north, the Golan Rescue Unit was dispatched to the Yehudia stream after a 70-year-old man lost consciousness while on a hike.
Overnight Monday, a volunteer rescue unit from the West Bank rescued five travelers who had been trapped at the Tor stream, located near the Dead Sea. The five men were rescued after five hours of strenuous rappelling work.
