Sweden joins coalition of countries fighting Islamic State group

Swedish Foreign Minister Margot Wallstrom announced Thursday that Sweden would join the coalition of countries in the fight against the Islamic State group, according to a report by the Swedish news agency TT (Tidningarnas Telegrambyrå).

 

According to the report, Sweden will send up to 120 soldiers to northern Iraq in order to aid the Iraqi army in training as well as Kurdish forces.

 

"Increased military support is a necessity," said Wollstrom.
