12-year-old Israeli girl killed in Thailand boat fire identified as Shani Maril

The 12-year-old Israeli girl killed in a boat fire in Thailand on Wednesday was identified Thursday as Shani Maril from the city of Modi'in, according to the Israeli Foreign Ministry.

The young girl was the sole fatality of the fire that broke out on the boat carrying 104 passengers off the coast of Thailand in the Andaman Sea. The Maril family had been on a family trip in honor of Shani's Bat Mitzvah.
