Copenhagen’s only kosher deli was targeted on Thursday by vandals who smashed the store's front window and scrawled anti-Semitic messages on its walls, including "Jewish pigs".
Police officers patrolling the area discovered the damage to the store.
“All vandalism is serious, but it is obvious that when it comes to this particular location, there will be an extra focus on it,” police investigator Kenneth Jensen told the Danish Berlingske daily, TheLocal reported.
Thursday's incident comes two months after two gun attacks in Copenhagen which left two people dead – one of them Jewish security guard Dan Ozan, who was guarding a bat mitzvah ceremony at a synagogue in the town.
The Israeli ambassador to Denmark, Baruch Bina told Ynet: "This is not the Denmark that I know and admire. Ever since the attack occurred, the city has been putting great efforts to protect the community. Incidents such as these should not happen, and a fundamental change must be made."
Bina said that he had visited the Danish Parliament on Thursday. "I stood in front of the flag, which was flown half-mast to commemorate the 75th anniversary of the German invasion of Denmark. I remembered the incredible journey made by the Danish people to rescue the Jewish community from the jaws of the Nazis in October 1943, and today we stand in front of a shattered window belonging to the only kosher store in Copenhagen."
