White House: Obama would sign current version of Senate compromise on Iran bill

None

President Barack Obama would be willing to sign the current version of a compromise on an Iran nuclear bill being discussed in the US Senate, the White House said on Tuesday.

Republicans and Democrats on the US Senate Foreign Relations Committee reached a compromise Tuesday on a bill that would give Congress a say on an emerging deal to curb Iran's nuclear program -- and an opportunity to severely undercut the implementation of any agreement it doesn't like.

The compromise bill that the Senate Foreign Relations Committee is to vote on shortens from 60 to 30 days the amount of time Congress would have to review any final deal. During that time, Obama would be able to lift sanctions imposed through presidential action, but would be blocked from easing sanctions levied by Congress.
