Tax Authority and Shin Bet thwart attempt to smuggle coal into Gaza

The Tax Authority and Shin Bet thwarted an attempt Monday to smuggle 18 tons of coal across the Gaza border. The security apparatus expressed concern of the possibility that the coal might be used to fuel furnaces for the reconstruction and production of weapons by terrorist organizations in the Gaza Strip.

Last month, three Israelis were charged with smuggling metals to the Gaza Strip.
