Indictment filed against dentist living in Israel for aiding Hamas

An indictment was filed Tuesday morning in the Nazareth District Court against Malik Khatib, 31, a dentist from the village of Qana on suspicion he made contact with a Hamas agent and transferred funds to Hamas in Ramallah. He was also charged with illegal transportation and fraud under the Income Tax Ordinance.

The defense establishment said that it warned Khatib against carrying out such activity a few weeks before his arrest. Khatib's attorney said he denies the allegations and claimed that the transferred funds were for residents of the West Bank who worked in Israel.
