Court permits Israeli version of Burning Man festival to take place

The Be'er Sheva Administrative Court agreed Monday to allow the Midburn festival, the Israeli version of the famous Burning Man festival held annually in the US, after police and festival organizers disagreed about the limitations and rules to be imposed on festival-goers - namely rules about indecent exposure.

Judge Rachel Barkai ruled that while the police's position to seek to prohibit indecent exposure was understandable, if the festival is surrounded by a fence and closed to minors, visitors to the festival can feel free to undress.

About 6,500 people will participate in the festival held in the desert, to participate in the event which promotes community, art and self-expression.
