New York celebrates Israel with annual parade in Manhattan
Celebrate Israel event featured musical performances, with several members of the Israeli government making an appearance.
The annual parade to celebrate Israel was held Sunday in Manhattan, with thousands of people turning out.
The Celebrate Israel event is sponsored by, among others, the State of Israel, American Friends of Magen David Adom, Israel’s Tourism Ministry, the Jewish dating website JDate, and the Jewish National Fund.

Performers at this year’s parade come from both Israel and the US, and include Grammy winning violinist Miri Ben-Ari, the Israel Dance Institute and Rock band Soulfarm. Legendary Israeli singer Rita was also to make a special appearance.
The Israeli government was represented by Ido Aharoni, the Counsel General of Israel in New York, Science Minister Danny Danon and Minister without Portfolio Ofir Akunis.
Joining them were MKs Yoav Ben-Tzur of Shas, Avraham Neguise (Likud), Ksenia Svetlova (Zionist Union) and Revital Sweid (Zionist Union).
