Defense Minister Moshe Ya'alon to Syrian rebels: 'Don't touch the Druze'

Defense Minister Moshe Ya'alon stated that Israel's humanitarian aid to the rebels fighting on the Syrian border is conditioned on not harming the Druze. "We are sensitive when it comes to the Druze. Even those who are on the other side, the rebels, know of our sensitivity. It is no secret that those near the fence, on the Syrian side of the Golan Heights, benefit from Israeli humanitarian aid such as medical care, provided they do not allow terrorist organizations to get closer to our fence."

"Our second condition is - do not touch the Druze. Fiery calls of Israeli Druze to help their brethren in Syria, and to deliver weapons to them, do not serve the interests of the Druze in Syria," he added.
