On 9th day, Kerry says Iran nuke talks could go either way

VIENNA - US Secretary of State John Kerry said Sunday negotiations with Iran could go either way - cutting off any potential path for an Iranian nuclear bomb or ending without agreement.

Speaking in Vienna on the ninth day of the nuclear talks, Kerry said disagreements remain on several significant issues. He said hard choices must be made for a deal to be made by Tuesday, the latest deadline.

Kerry said he wanted to tamp down speculation. He described genuine progress being made but said an accord was still no sure thing.

He added that if Iran is intransigent, the US will leave without a pact, but noted no one wants that scenario, but Washington won't "shave at margins" to clinch an insufficient package.
