Legislation allowing ministers to serve only in government advances

The government approved on Sunday morning legislation that allows one minister or deputy minister from any party in the coalition to resign from the Knesset and serve only in the government.

This bill, proposed by Bayit Yehudi, will allow the minister to make room in the legislature to another member on the party list.

If the government collapses or the Knesset disperses, the minister or deputy minister will automatically return to be an MK, while the person who replaced them will automatically be once again out of the Knesset.

This legation was part of the coalition agreements signed between Likud and Bayit Yehudi.
