Kurdish rebels attack Turkish military vehicle; 2 killed

Turkey's state-run agency says Kurdish rebels have attacked a military vehicle in southeastern Turkey, killing two soldiers, in the latest violence between government forces and militants.

Anadolu Agency says rebels of the Kurdistan Workers' Party, or PKK, on Tuesday exploded a road-side bomb as a military vehicle was passing by and then opened fire on the security forces. Another soldier and a government-paid village guard were wounded in the attack near the village of Arakoy, in Sirnak province which borders Iraq.

Hostilities have flared in Turkey, wrecking a fragile peace process launched in 2012 with the Kurds. At least 30 people have been killed in the past 10 days, most of them soldiers

Turkish jets have also carried out strikes on PKK targets in northern Iraq.
