Report: Saudi Arabia offers Assad plan to resolve Syria conflict
Saudi Arabia has reportedly proposed a plan to Syrian President Bassar Assad to resolve the crisis in his country, London-based Al-Hayat newspaper reported on Saturday.
According to the reported initiative, Saudi will stop its support of rebels trying to overthrow Assad in return for Hezbollah, Iranian and other Shiite forces pulling out of Syria. This will help prepare the ground for presidential and parliamentary elections in Syria, under UN monitoring.
