Tourism ministry reports recovery in July 2015

There has been an 26 percent increase in the number of tourists arriving in Israel in July 2015, compared to the same month last year, when Operation Protective Edge erupted in the Gaza Strip, according to a report by the Tourism Ministry released Sunday.

 

According to the report, July 2015 featured numbers similar to those reported for the same month in 2013: This year, 279,000 tourists entered Israel in July, compared to 294,000 in the same month in 2013. In July 2014 (during Protective Edge), only 18,000 tourists entered the country.

 

The report also states that overall, 1.65 million tourists entered Israel between January and July 2015, a 13 percent decrease compared to 2014, and 1.6 percent compared to 2013.
