Paris drafts in 500 police to patrol 'Tel Aviv beach'

Some 500 police officers will patrol Thursday's fiercely opposed 'Tel Aviv on Seine' event which was supposed to celebrate the culture of the Israeli coastal city but will take place amid high security.

The Town Hall said in a statement that the reinforcements would be in place "to prevent the disruption of public order", and would see bag searches on the site as well as extra monitoring in both directions beyond the actual site of the beach.
