Iron Dome deployed to Ashdod for fear of rocket fire
Security coordinators said to have received warnings of impending rocket fire on south due to deteriorating health of hunger striker.
The Air Force has deployed an Iron Dome missile defense battery to Ashdod, it was released for publication on Thursday.
Gaza security coordinators received warnings Wednesday of possible rocket fire from the Gaza Strip. They said Iron Dome was brought into the field due to the deteriorating condition of Mohammed Allaan, a suspected member of Islamic Jihad currently hospitalized in Ashkelon, more than 60 days into a hunger strike.

Allaan was sedated Wednesday for the second time in a week. In the evening, the Supreme Court announced it was suspending his administrative detention due to his poor health condition after MRIs revealed that he had suffered brain damage as a result of the hunger strike.

Over the weekend Islamic Jihad warned Israel against letting Allaan perish, saying, "This will lead all of us to take responsibility to defend our nation and those of us in jail."
Israeli police have established 24-hour protection for Allaan in his ward at Brazilai Hospital for fear that right-wing activists could try to harm him.
