14 killed in 2 bomb attacks in Somalia

Somali police officials say at least 14 people have been killed in two separate bomb explosions.

Capt. Mohamed Hussein said four people were killed when a parked car exploded near a bus station in northern Mogadishu.

This is the second attack carried out Saturday by militants and it bore the hallmarks of the Islamic extremist group al-Shabab, which is allied to al-Qaida.

In the earlier attack militants drove an explosives-laden vehicle into a training site for government soldiers in the southern port city of Kismayo. Somali officials said at least 10 soldiers were killed in that attack, for which al-Shabab claimed responsibility.
