Number of immigrant students up by 50 percent
The number of immigrant students in the 2015-16 school year in Israel is 50 percent higher than last year. 2,900 young people will begin their first school year in the Israeli educational system, out of which 360 will begin the first grade. Like last year, France was the country from which the largest number of immigrants came (around 1,150), followed by Ukraine (about 500), Russia (around 470), and the United States (roughly 270).
