Much work remains on past Iranian work, UN nuclear agency says

The UN nuclear watchdog has much work to do in order to assess by a year-end deadline whether there was a military aspect to Iran's past nuclear activities, the agency's chief said on Monday.

"With regard to clarification of PMD, much work needs to be done," Yukiya Amano, director general of the International Atomic Energy Agency, told a news conference, referring to the term "possible military dimensions".

The assessment is a vital part of a deal between Iran and six world powers under which Iran has accepted to restrict its nuclear program in exchange for a lifting of international sanctions imposed on it.
