Highway 1 closed near Jerusalem due to a fire
A truck that caught on fire caused the closure of Highway 1 near Jerusalem and the evacuation of homes in the area on Thursday, after the blaze spread to the nearby woods and threatened one of the capital's neighborhoods.
Twelve firefighting crews evacuated homes in lower Motza and were able to gain control of the fire shortly after 12pm. No one was reported hurt in the fire.
The haze made it difficult on firefighting crews due to low visibility, which also made it impossible to call up air tanker planes.
