As a resident of the Jordan Valley and frequent visitor in the Old City, Daniel always carries his firearm and constantly checks his surroundings, searching for a potential attacker.
Despite his state of awareness, he didn't anticipate that an inconspicuous, 18-year-old Palestinian girl would try to end his life. Daniel spoke to Ynet after an attempt on his life on Thursday and relived the traumatic experience that left him lightly wounded and forced him to shoot a young female attacker.

The current wave of attacks in Jerusalem had him even more on edge than normal as he walked through the Old City, but Daniel was still taken by surprise as he realized that he'd been stabbed.
In the brief seconds it took him to come to his senses, Daniel's friend held off the Palestinian girl. It was Daniel's quick recovery and action that neutralized his attacker and sent her to the hospital in serious condition.
The attack in Jerusalem was just one of several to occur throughout Israel on Thursday, causing authorities to heighten security on Friday, ahead of what Palestinians designated a "Day of Rage."
