The burned car

Car set ablaze in suspected 'price tag' attack in East Jerusalem

Graffiti with the words 'administrative revenge' found near burning vehicle in Umm Tuba, allegedly referring to recent administrative detention orders given to far-right Jewish activists.

A car was set on fire in the East Jerusalem neighborhood of Umm Tuba early Sunday and the words "administrative revenge" were sprayed next to it, in a suspected "price tag" attack.

The incident took place at around 3am. Firefighting crews from Har Homa neighborhood were called to put out the fire, and managed to prevent it from spreading to nearby vegetation and buildings. The car was heavily damaged.

"We feared that the fire would spread to nearby vegetation and the adjacent building. We immediately started putting out the fire preventing the spread of the flames and fire, and soon after took control of the fire," Sergeant Nir Abramovich, commander of the firefighting crew.

He said that while fighting the fire he noticed graffiti near the vehicle, which he reported to the police.

The graffiti was apparently referring to the administrative detention orders that were given to far-right Jewish activists recently.

Among those arrested was Meir Ettinger, Rabbi Meir Kahane's grandson, who has been detained since August. Ettinger was arrested on suspicion of heading a cell that planned acts of violence against Palestinians as part of what he called a 'revolution'.
