Bodies of 43 drowned migrants discovered on Libya's beaches since Saturday

The bodies of 43 migrants have been discovered since Saturday on Libya's shores, east of the capital Tripoli, with more victims likely to be discovered following their boat being shipwrecked. The information came from the Libyan Red Cross.

 

"Inhabitants of the area reported the presence of bodies on the beach around the port of Zliten (160km east of Tripoli)," Red Cross spokesperson Mohamad Al-Misrati told AFP.

 

The countries of origin of the victms were not disclosed, but the official press agency of the Libyan authorities indicated that the migrants had come from various African countries.
