The head of the global association of national Olympic committees says Kuwait will be suspended by the IOC on Tuesday because of government interference.
Sheikh Ahmad Al-Fahad Al-Sabah tells The Associated Press that Kuwait's Olympic committee is being sanctioned because the Gulf country has not revised its disputed sports legislation by the Oct. 27 deadline set by the IOC.
FIFA suspended Kuwait's soccer association over the same issue two weeks ago.
Sheikh Ahmad, who is from Kuwait, heads the Association of National Olympic Committees and is a senior member of the IOC.
He says "as a Kuwaiti I am very sad," adding that Kuwaiti athletes will suffer.
