Alitalia offering flights from Tel Aviv to US for $588

Italy's national airline launches new website in Hebrew along with special offers; meanwhile, easyJet plans to end its service from Tel Aviv to Rome in February due to tough competition in Italy.

Alitalia, Italy's national airline, has launched a new website in Hebrew along with a special campaign offering flights from Tel Aviv to Rome, and from there to many destinations worldwide.

The campaign includes flights to Italy for $249, to other destinations in Europe for a starting price of $245, and to different cities in the United States (such as New York and Miami) for a starting price of $588. The special offers apply to tickets purchased by November 3 and are valid for flights leaving until March 31.

Meanwhile, British low-cost company easyJet will end its service from Tel Aviv to Rome in February, when it closes its hub in the Italian capital. This will lead to the cancellation of additional easy-Jet routes from Rome to different destinations in Europe.

The company explained that it had decided to close its hub in Rome due to the tough competition against other airlines and said it planned to focus on its other destinations in Italy: Milan (from where it operates flights to Tel Aviv as well) and Naples.

EasyJet began flying from Rome to Tel Aviv in September 2013 and currently operates two weekly flights on the route.
