Republican presidential candidate Ben Carson has for the first time overtaken billionaire Donald Trump at the national level in the election race, according to a poll on the public's voting intentions that was conducted on Tuesday.
Ben Carson, a neurosurgeon and new to politics, is the only black candidate in the race for the White House in 2016. The poll, conducted among Republican voters by the New York times and CBS News, gave Carson 26 percent of intended votes, while Trump took 22 percent. However, the change in position lies within the margin of error, which is six percent.
