Justice Minister Ayelet Shaked has proposed amending the law so that anyone calling for acts of terror to be committed will be sentenced to five years in jail, without the need to prove that the call led to an actual act of terrorism being carried out. The need to prove intent is currently stipulated in the relevant section of the legal code.
"The recent wave of terror cannot be separated from the phenomenon of shocking incitement on social media," Shaked said. "Incitement on social media causes murder in the streets. Calling on someone to commit a terrorist act is sufficient for an individual to be convicted and prosecuted."
