Iraqi officials say 16 rockets have been fired at a military base near the Baghdad International Airport, killing at least three Iraqi soldiers.
A police official says the rockets hit Camp Liberty, a former U.S. base now housing an exiled Iranian opposition group, the Mujahedeen-e-Khalq. The official says at least 16 soldiers guarding the camp were also wounded.
He says the rockets landed far enough from the airport that they did not disrupt commercial traffic.
A hospital official confirmed the casualty figures. Both officials spoke on condition of anonymity because they are not authorized to speak to the media.
