A Palestinian ran at security forces with a knife in the West Bank on Saturday before being shot dead.
An Israeli police spokeswoman said that at a checkpoint between Jenin and Afula a Palestinian holding a knife ran toward a security officer who called on him to stop.
"When he did not heed those calls the security man shot toward him in order to neutralize him and as a result the terrorist was killed," spokeswoman Luba Samri said. Palestinian medical officials said he was 18 years old.
Security forces decided to close Jalama checkpoint until further notice.
A stabbing attack was attempted in the same location exactly a week earlier, when a 16-year-old Palestinian dressed as a candy salesman tried to stab security guards.
A guard saw the knife and fired on the Palestinian, killing him at the scene.
