WWII bomb found at Duesseldorf airport, some disruption

Authorities are disposing of a World War II bomb found at Duesseldorf airport, causing some disruption to flights.

An airport statement Monday says the roughly 125-kilogram (275-pound) bomb was unearthed overnight. Officials planned to carry out a controlled explosion at the site, which was located away from the airport's runways.

Some 38 takeoffs or landings planned during the morning operation were moved forward or backward.

Seventy years after the end of the war, unexploded bombs are still regularly discovered during construction work in German cities.
