Lawyer: Suspect in German neo-Nazi trial to testify in court

BERLIN - A lawyer for a German woman accused of being involved in 10 neo-Nazi murders said his client will testify for the first time since her trial began more than two years ago.

Prosecutors say Beate Zschaepe was part of the National Socialist Underground, which allegedly killed eight Turkish men, a Greek and a policewoman between 2000 and 2007. The group's two other members died in an apparent murder-suicide in 2011.

Zschaepe's attorney Mathias Grasel confirmed reports in German media Monday that his client will break her silence and provide comprehensive testimony on Wednesday.

It wasn't immediately clear whether her testimony will be delivered in person or read out by her lawyer, as is common in German trials.
