State requests 3-week delay to demolition of Givat Ze'ev synagogue

A state attorney has submitted a request to the Supreme Court asking that they delay the demolition of the synagogue in Givat Ze'ev by three weeks. The attorney's justification for the request is that carrying out the demolition without the agreement of the worshipers at the synagogue will likely lead to bloodshed.

"The prime minister and defense minister have received intelligence from security sources which point to significant concerns following the evacuation of the synagogue without an agreement," the request said.

The fear principally surrounds "price tag" attacks. If the Supreme Court does not submit to the request the state will be compelled to carry out the demolition by Tuesday. The owners of the private Palestinian land on which the synagogue stands requested a response to the submission by Tuesday morning.
