UN to vote on resolution condemning Islamic State attacks

France says the U.N. Security Council will vote later Friday on a resolution calling on all countries to "redouble and coordinate their efforts" to prevent further attacks by the Islamic State group and similar groups.

French diplomat Philippe Bertoux tweeted that the vote would take place in the afternoon.

The draft resolution also demandes that the 93 U.N. member states "eradicate the safe haven they have established over significant parts of Iraq and Syria."

The text, obtained by The Associated Press, condemns the recent attacks by the Islamic State group and urges countries to "intensify their efforts to stem the flow of foreign terrorist fighters to Iraq and Syria."
