Iran blames Turkey for downing of Russian jet
Iran is lashing out at Turkey over the shooting down of a Russian fighter jet near the Syrian border, saying Ankara is responsible for heightened tensions in the region.
Iran and Russia are key allies of Syrian President Bashar Assad, while Turkey is a leading supporter of the rebels fighting to overthrow him. Iran's official IRNA news agency quoted President Hassan Rouhani as saying these "provocative actions and their many legal consequences are the responsibility of the initiator."
