Al Qaeda militants take over two south Yemen towns, residents say
Al Qaeda militants have taken over the two major southern Yemeni towns of Zinjibar and Jaar, residents and sources in the popular committees said on Wednesday.
Residents said the militants launched a surprise attack and clashed with popular committee fighters. The militants then set up checkpoints at the entry points of the towns and announced over loudspeakers after dawn prayers their takeover of both towns.
